Mark Perrin
To whom it may concern
I would like to introduce you to my youngest son Mark Perrin. He lost his battle to addiction on 1/19/16. He was born on 8/1/88. He is "forever 27". He was the most personable, intelligent & witty young man I've ever known. He could imitate any voice or accent. He was kind & generous to a fault! He is so greatly missed by his 3 siblings & his mom & dad. He also is terribly missed by his dog, Nana & her son Nano.
His addiction started at an early age with alcohol & marijuana. It progressed to prescription oxycodone. When he wasn't able to attain those it resorted to heroin. He swore he would never put a needle in his arm. He said to me, " what do you think, I'm crazy? I would never do that" Well, unfortunately his addiction & the insanity of it forced him to. I tried to have him hospitalized after a 5 day binge but he had heroin in his pocket & was swiftly arrested. After 44 days in jail he was court ordered to a rehab. The jail failed to find 2 pills hidden in his clothes. He took 1 before being released to the rehab. At rehab he smoked the other one. At that point, they tested him & discovered he was dirty. He called me & said he was kicked out for testing positive. I picked him up & told him the judge will put him back in jail. He agreed to go to detox the very next day. He begged for me to buy some munchies $25 worth before he had to turn himself in. I trusted him with my card. When he returned I realized he had stolen $190 on my card. I was distraught. My last words to my beautiful baby boy were, " Mark that's the last time you'll ever steal from me again". It was!!!
I love & miss him more each day. He was not his addiction. He would cry to me about not wanting to continue living like that. He was unable to seek recovery & I unwittingly always wanted to trust & forgive, to his demise!! If Marks story helps 1 person his overdose will not have been in vain!! Heartbroken in Florida
